Position Summary:

The SCADA Controls Technician, you will be responsible for the configuration, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and related control equipment. they will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation of control systems for public water, wastewater and storm-water utility systems.

Job Duties:

  1. Design:Design, develop, and implement ladder logic programs for PLCs to control industrial processes and equipment in accordance with project requirements and specifications.
  2. Configure and program touchscreen and remote SCADA Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to provide intuitive and user-friendly interfaces consistently following specified design styles for operators to monitor and control processes, visualize data, and interact with the SCADA system and PLC automation
  3. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and end-users to understand system requirements, functional specifications, and control logic requirements for SCADA applications
  4. Conduct testing and debugging of ladder logic programs, HMI screens, and both SCADA server and PLC configurations to ensure proper functionality, performance, and adherence to design specifications
  5. Installation:Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to PLCs, HMIs, radio, copper and fiber-based communication networks, and SCADA systems, applying advanced knowledge of ladder logic and control system principles
  6. Assist in on-site and remote support of installation, commissioning, and startup of SCADA systems and PLC based Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), providing technical support and expertise during project implementation phases
  7. Perform software upgrades, patches, and modifications to PLC programs and HMI applications as required to enhance system functionality, address issues, or accommodate changes in process requirements
  8. Provide training and support to operators, maintenance personnel, and end-users on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of SCADA systems, PLCs, and HMIs
  9. TravelMost work sites are in excess of 1 hour drive from the Data Flow facilities. Travel is typically day trips, or trips up to 5 days (Mon-Fri) in length. Weekend work or travel is occasional but uncommon.
  10. Travel to and from job sites is in company provided vehicles and travel time is paid as time worked.
  11. Lodging expenses and a per diem are provided for overnight trips, direct reimbursement for meals on day trips up to the per-diem amounts are provided for single day trips.
  12. Safety and Compliance:Adhere to safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe work practices, and compliance with site-specific safety requirements
  13. Ensure that installations comply with applicable regulatory standards, building codes, and industry guidelines for electrical installations and equipment

Job Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction and internal collaboration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and TCP/IP network configuration, with Linux command line experience preferred
  • Experience with structured programming in text-based or graphical programming languages, with ladder logic experience preferred
  • Experience with object oriented graphic design for print, GUI design or other media
  • A fundamental understanding of electrical theory
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed to meet production deadlines and customer requirements
