Assistant Project Manager

We have partnered with a reputable, established Chicago-based General Contractor that manages the construction of simple to complex commercial projects. This builder completes work throughout the country, with a strong presence in Chicagoland. They are client-focused and leaders in today’s progressive construction industry. With a diverse history of award-winning projects, they specialize in commercial, educational, retail, pharmaceutical, hospitality, and religious construction.


The team is growing and looking to add a talented Assistant Project Manager to their dynamic firm. In this role, you will assist with all aspects of their projects from preconstruction through closeout. It is important that you are able to work well with clients, office staff, architects, field staff, and subcontractors.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project team to inform them of upcoming deadlines, tracking schedule progress, critical activities, or communicating any changes
  • Develop, distribute, and track all correspondence related to the project documents –drawings, sketches, specifications, addenda, bid RFI responses, submittals, etc.
  • Generate OAC agendas with project team
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for all trades related to constructing a project
  • Assist with preparing an estimate, project options, and clarifications
  • Prepare scope of work and review with Subcontractors
  • Review submittals and generate RFI’s
  • Assist with preparing subcontract agreements, project subcontractor bid lists, purchase orders, project schedule, and pricing for change orders
  • Approve and code subcontractor and vendor invoices
  • Review and code weekly field staff timesheets
  • Assist with project closeout such as compiling O&M Manuals, distributing closeout letters, and tracking punch list items to completion
  • Obtain bids from subcontractors
  • Assist in BIM coordination (where applicable)
  • Generate and track QAQC lists


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Construction industry experience or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years project support experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Bidding experience is preferred
  • Ability to travel to local job sites and vendor locations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with a desire to learn new systems
  • Ability to be a team player, manage multiple tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
