Talon Simulations is a privately held technology company in Orlando, Florida which specializes in immersive vehicle simulators for entertainment centers and training institutes. With the effective combination of high-quality virtual reality head mounted displays and responsive motion platforms, our team provides the most realistic simulations at a price point more accessible to wider audiences. The company was started out of a Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Project at the University of Central Florida in 2013 and has since delivered simulators for a list of reputable clients such as Dave & Buster’s, Toyota, Ford, CBS Television City, NASA, US Army, US Air Force, and the US Navy.
Role Description
This is a contract role for an Assembly Technician at Talon Simulations, located in Altamonte Springs, FL. It will be full-time from May 2024 to September 2024 with the opportunity for extension and travel for installations. We are building 81 Driver Training Simulators for the new US Marine Corps Amphibious Combat Vehicle. As an Assembly Technician, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Assemble motion platform systems with linear actuators, wire harnesses, and circuit boards
- Work closely with the engineering and quality control teams to ensure the systems meet the required specifications
- Work on-site and follow assembly procedures accurately
- Organize inventory, assemble components using hand tools, review completed components for defects, and palletize completed products for shipment
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed
- Perform quality assurance testing of received goods and completed goods
- Follow established procedures, processes, or policies
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in a similar production assembly environment or demonstrated work history using hand and power tools
- Experience in assembly and testing of electronic and mechanical systems
- Understanding of assembly procedures and ability to read technical drawings
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, as required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in XR technologies or vehicle training systems is a plus
