Environmental Geologist

ARM Group LLC is seeking an Environmental Geologist to join our fast-growing environmental practice. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists, project managers, and other staff to provide a wide range of observation, testing services, data analysis/organization, documentation, technical report preparation and preparation of cost estimates and proposal information for geotechnical and environmental development projects for a diverse client base. Collaboration, effective communication with all stakeholders along with the ability to pro-actively recognize issues, develop solutions and seek guidance will be key to success in this role.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Sampling and monitoring of soil, groundwater, surface water, and air medias using properly calibrated instruments.
- Detailed description and logging of soil/rock cuttings and cores during drilling activities.
- Observe and document construction activities of monitoring wells, supply wells, injection wells, production wells, and recovery wells to assure compliance with technical specifications.
- Complete daily field reports and test summaries documenting the work being performed.
- Perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and prepare subsequent reports.
- Evaluate and manage large volumes Laboratory Data
- Design, develop and manage well networks in a variety of geologic settings.
- Support other ARM Group practice areas as needed for data collection and processing tasks.
- Prepare cost estimates and proposal information as requested.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet deliverables on projects and obtain further knowledge and experiences.
- Effectively communicate with key stake holders including project managers, project engineers, and other members of the project team.
- Pro-actively recognize conditions and problems of non-routine nature, develop solutions, and seek guidance when needed.
Base Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree
- 0-10+ years’ experience in related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; working knowledge of ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD programs a plus.
- Possess excellent analytical problem-solving skills.
- Team orientated with the ability to perform independent hands-on fieldwork and reporting.
- OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER, MSHA Surface Mining and/or Safeland training preferred.
- A self-starter possessing strong communication and organizational skills.
- Desire to work on multiple projects in parallel rather than a single large project for months.
- Requires travel to job sites and, on occasion, out of the local area overnight stays.
- Valid Drivers license in good standing required.
Preferred Requirements
- Master’s of Science
- G.I.T/E.I.T or P.G./P.E. certification, as applicable; or the opportunity to obtain such certifications while employed at ARM Group can be developed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 30-50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Desire to work outside in all climates and conditions.
- Ability to walk and stand continuously throughout the day, often on uneven surfaces with frequent bending and stooping.
