Your contribution
As a member of the Logistics General Merchandise Operations Team you will be responsible for overseeing numerous functions within a warehouse to include: shipping, receiving, loading, inventory control, rotation of product, as well as the supervision of affiliated and non-affiliated Associates. This role requires oversight of a 7-day operation, Sunday through Saturday. Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, managing and directing the day to day Logistics workflow. The candidate selected for this position will be expected to work a Split Work Week (Any 5 out of 7). The work week and days off will be based upon business needs and may not include traditional Saturday/Sunday off.
What you will do
The essential job functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manages and directs the day-to-day Logistics workflow
- Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through excellence in receiving, identifying, dispatching, and assuring the quality of goods
- Ensure shipments’ and inventory transactions’ accuracy
- Actively monitors the warehouse environment to ensure Wakefern policies and procedures are adhered to and address any violations in a timely manner
- Communicates operational updates across the management team daily
- Measure and report the effectiveness of warehousing activities and employees performance
- Communicate job expectations and coach employees
- Determine staffing levels and assign workload
- Maintain items record, document necessary information, and utilize reports to project warehouse status
- Confer and coordinate activities with other departments
What we’re looking for
- High School diploma or equivalent required, college preferred.
- Previous warehouse supervisory experience including receiving, shipping, selection, sanitation and inventory control or other related experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership, problem solving and motivational skills with an ability to supervise administrative and warehouse associates.
- Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Rapid, Radio Frequency Hilo and Voice Directed Selection experience is preferred.
- Flexibility with regard to work schedule including; days, shift, overtime and holidays (Any 5 out of 7 days).
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills, bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

How you will work
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with a unionized workforce
- Wear protective steel toe footwear is required
- Standing and walking for long periods of time
- Operate mobile equipment (single pallet jack)
- Occasional bending, lifting and/or moving a case up to 25 pounds, closing of trailer doors while overseeing shipping is required
- Must be capable of typing and /or looking at a screen for an extended period of time
- On site - No remote work
