Our client is looking for a Network Security Engineer to ensure the security of their systems and infrastructure. In this role, you will leverage your advanced skills in intrusion detection and threat hunting to identify credible risks and prevent potential data breaches. Although this role involves blockchain technology, prior experience in crypto is not required.


The Role


Our client is seeking a Network Security Engineer to assess, identify, and mitigate vulnerabilities within their systems and infrastructure. You will also lead incident response efforts, maintain security controls, and implement a threat hunting program.


What You Will Do

  • Conduct security assessments of systems and infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities, determine risk ownership, and implement mitigating controls.
  • Monitor and analyze network, server, endpoint, database, and application activities for indicators of compromise while minimizing false positives.
  • Implement and maintain security controls, including access management, network segmentation, and monitoring tools.
  • Develop and implement a proactive threat hunting program to mitigate security risks.
  • Lead incident response efforts, conducting thorough remediation and root cause analysis.
  • Enhance security processes and documentation, staying current on the latest security threats.


Who You Are

  • Skilled in configuring routers, switches, and firewalls to optimize network security and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, Spanning Tree, and ARP.
  • Experience using tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, nstat, IXIA, or Iperf for testing, monitoring, and analyzing network traffic.
  • Proficiency in cybersecurity operations and incident response.
  • Knowledge of log ingestion pipelines, log parsing, grok patterns, and regular expressions.
  • Ability to write and automate security incident playbooks.
  • Experience with both bare metal and cloud-native environments.
  • Experience with securing desktop environments.
  • Deep knowledge of attacker methodologies and techniques.
  • Programming/scripting skills (e.g. bash, python).
  • Experience with blockchain clients is a plus.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Security, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
