Circuit Provisioning Specialist

Required Qualifications:


Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in transport design and/or project coordination within the cellular or telecommunications industry, with a focus on fiber-based circuits (both lit and dark fiber).
  • Familiarity with circuit management databases (e.g., Canvas, FUZE) is required.
  • Experience with 3rd party vendors, network ordering processes, and portfolio management.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of LIT ethernet and dark fiber networks.
  • Understanding of telecommunications network designs (e.g., fronthaul, backhaul, microwave) and cellular network infrastructure (e.g., Ericsson baseband, Ciena 5164, Nokia IXRe, Assentria Siteboss).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.


  • Education:
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Communication & Organizational Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Ability to work independently, showing initiative and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present technical documentation and reports.


Additional Requirements:

  • Location: This position requires you to work from the Rolling Meadows, IL office at least 2 days per week (Tues/Wed).
  • Self-Motivated: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities:

Billing Management:

  • Oversee the submission of circuit disconnect orders and ensure accurate billing related to the disconnect process.
  • Manage billing for fiber-based transport services, ensuring charges align with the services provided, including the management of any associated credits.
  • Reconcile billing issues and track monthly implementation plans for ethernet backhaul bandwidth uplift to 10G, ensuring legacy circuits (e.g., 1G) are properly disconnected and no longer billed.
  • Prepare and review reports tracking billing milestones, payment status, and disconnect progress.

Circuit Disconnect & Documentation:

  • Manage the disconnect process for legacy circuits, focusing on the identification, validation, and disconnection of unused or obsolete circuits.
  • Audit and update the Canvas (CND) and FUZE databases to ensure accurate circuit and equipment information, reflecting accurate fiber designs for new and existing technologies.
  • Collaborate with field engineers to manage and track disconnect requests, ensuring smooth execution and minimal downtime.

Project Coordination:

  • Work closely with engineers and technical teams to support new technology rollouts and construction efforts for cell site expansions and upgrades.
  • Generate, document, and release work orders to field engineering teams to facilitate the disconnect process and network updates.
  • Attend project update meetings to provide technical solutions and resolve any challenges related to circuit disconnects or upgrades.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

  • Liaise with telco vendors to ensure timely fulfillment of disconnect orders and ensure credits are applied appropriately.
  • Collaborate with field and systems Network Assurance teams to facilitate fiber connectivity activations and resolve any issues related to circuit path designations or fiber optimization.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Support the implementation of best practices and process improvements in circuit management, including adopting current methods for interconnect tracking and enhancing vendor collaboration.
  • Drive initiatives that contribute to reducing costs associated with telecom expenses, particularly in disconnecting unused or underutilized circuits.
