Purpose:

The Business Analyst position will provide financial modeling development, analyses, and support for RBF business operations as well as perform daily middle office functions. Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to exploring ways to increase RBF’s business efficiency by leveraging and creating technology tools and processes used to monitor, assess, and evaluate the financial performance and structure of the business in addition to supporting various demands of the middle office.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Design, build, validate, and maintain proforma financial models, systems, and analyses in support of commercial operations activities
  • Continually review modeling and analyses methodology to improve and enhance results, while having the initiative and ability to drive development of such systems
  • Provide detailed analyses on various financial and operational issues such as: contract comparisons; inventory reconciliations; and measures of operational effectiveness
  • Develop and assess rolling cash flow forecasts
  • Preparation of timely and relevant management reports that provide insights into the organization’s performance against its plans
  • Effectively utilize CTRM system (Right Angle) to extract meaningful data and manipulate extracted data in excel for final reporting. Create new reports directly in the system that will be useful for the team. Check for reasonableness, consistency and errors. 
  • Coordinate with multiple internal functional groups to develop key assumptions for operational and financial models
  • Provide analytical support and analysis to internal functions as needed
  • Conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses to identify operational and financial impacts and model various outcomes
  • Assist in the evaluation of risks and check assumptions for reasonableness and consistency. Call to the attention of the Senior Management those assumptions which appear to be unreasonable or inconsistent.
  • Remain updated on new or improved technology tools and processes used to increase team effectiveness and efficiency
  • Monitor and interpret key developments on the competitive landscape and prepare periodic update reports for senior management
  • Support commercial business/front office by performing various daily middle office functions. Some of these functions include daily upload and review of commodity prices into the risk system, review of executed physical and financial trades, deal entry and ad hoc risk control requests.
  • Cross train and serve back up functions for other analysts
  • Perform other ad hoc modeling and analysis as assigned

 

Required Business Skills:

·        Superior analytical/quantitative skills and advanced modeling experience; demonstrated MS Excel mastery mandatory. High Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Word required

·        Demonstrated experience in developing proforma models

·        Ability to generate precise and accurate data/reports without significant supervision; ability to error-check own work products

·        Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills with the ability to extract insights from data

·        Detail and results‐oriented team player who is dedicated to getting the job done accurately and timely with a strong sense of urgency

·        Must be flexible, focused and have the ability to work well in a lean, fast-paced work environment

·        Excellent command of the English language, both verbally and written


 Experience/Education:

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or business-related field required
  • Completed coursework and/or certification in financial modeling (Factset, Wall Street Prep, Training The Street, etc.) a plus
  • Experience with Bloomberg or other financial terminal a plus
  • Experience with RightAngle or other CTRM system a plus
  • Energy industry, with mid-office exposure
  • Experience with regulatory compliance a plus
