Select Engineering, Inc., is a privately-held company with offices in Tulsa, OK and San Antonio, TX. We provide engineering, design, procurement, and construction management solutions to the refining, chemical, terminal, and gas processing sectors of the petroleum industry.


The piping designer positions are responsible for documentation, detailed instructions, drawing packages and specifications utilizing AutoCAD and CadWorx. Drawings and specifications outline instructions for constructions of structures, equipment, parts, and devices. Work includes piping plans and elevations. Job will set up books with appropriate drawings, piping specifications, and drafting standards for other team members to follow. Additional discipline-specific requirements may be added as required.


Accountabilities: 

 

  • Check dimensions and assign of materials and assign numbers
  • Design scale or full-sized blueprints
  • Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using CAD equipment
  • Review schematics with customer and answer questions
  • Complete detailed drawings and specifications for equipment using CAD
  • Work with project team members to design, lay out or detailed components and systems to resolve design or other problems
  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems
  • Confer with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems
  • Draw freehand sketches of designs in field applications when required
  • Place instructions and comments onto drawings
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting designs and the procedures/instructions to be followed
  • Additional duties as requested by supervisor

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and models.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and CadWorx
  • Ability to confer with engineering, or technical personnel
  • Ability to read P & IDs
