Social Media Marketing Specialist

Digital Content Creation and Social Media Management


Rookwood, a leader of handcrafted, artisan Pottery and Architectural Tile, is seeking a highly skilled and creative Digital Content and Social Media Manager to join our expanding marketing team in Cincinnati. This pivotal role will serve as the right hand to our Marketing Director, collaborating closely with the Creative Director and Photography Lead to create a unified and diverse brand expression across all Rookwood channels.

We need a technologically savvy individual with a deep understanding of social media best practices, platforms, and ad strategies. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for storytelling through visual and written content, with the expertise to create dynamic, engaging material that enhances brand awareness, drives user engagement, and ultimately contributes to the growth and success of our retail, eCommerce, and B2B lines of business.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING


  • Strategic Content Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive social media content strategy that highlights the timeless beauty and craftsmanship of Rookwood Pottery. Collaborate with the Marketing Director to align social media efforts with broader marketing objectives, ensuring a cohesive brand narrative across all platforms.


  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work hand in hand with the Creative Director and Photography Lead to create a unified and diverse brand expression. This includes curating content that reflects Rookwood’s artistic heritage and resonates with a wide-ranging audience, ensuring consistency in tone, style, and messaging across all channels.


  • Social Media Management: Manage and execute the social content calendar, scheduling and posting organic content across multiple platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. Develop impactful stories, reels, and static post content, coordinating the trafficking of social assets with the Marketing and Creative teams.


  • Content Creation and Execution: Produce high-quality visual content, including photography and videography, complemented by compelling copy that captures the essence of Rookwood's ceramic artistry. Leverage advanced video editing, photo editing, and content creation skills to craft engaging stories that showcase our unique products and their artistic background.


  • Platform Expansion: Assist with the development, planning, and maintenance of new social platforms such as Pinterest, TikTok, and Houzz, ensuring Rookwood remains at the forefront of digital trends.


  • Ad Strategy and Optimization: Utilize your deep understanding of social media platforms and ad strategies to optimize content distribution, increase brand visibility, and drive audience engagement. Maintain a consistent posting schedule and adapt content based on platform-specific best practices to maximize reach and effectiveness.


  • Website and SEO Management: Build, schedule, and maintain web updates on the homepage and landing pages, as well as assist with PDP (Product Detail Page) copy updates. Gain proficiency in SEO best practices and incorporate these strategies into the business where applicable.


  • Community Engagement: Actively engage with our online community, responding to comments, messages, and inquiries to foster a sense of connection and excitement around Rookwood Pottery. Use insights from these interactions to refine content strategies and better meet the needs and interests of our followers.


  • Data-Driven Optimization: Utilize analytics tools to monitor content performance, measure audience engagement, and analyze trends. Apply data-driven insights to continually optimize content strategies, ensuring that all social media efforts contribute to the overall growth of the Rookwood brand.


  • Photography Project Management: Assist with the buildout and maintenance of photography shot lists, collaborating with the Marketing Director, Creative Director, and Photography team to ensure all visual content aligns with brand standards and marketing goals.


QUALITIES WE’RE SEEKING IN A CANDIDATE


  • Experience and Expertise: Proven experience as a Social Media Content Creator or a related role, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful social media campaigns. You should be technologically inclined, with a deep understanding of social media best practices, platforms, and ad strategies.


  • Creative Vision: A deep appreciation for art, craftsmanship, and ceramics, with a genuine enthusiasm for Rookwood Pottery's rich history and creative legacy. Strong storytelling and copywriting skills, with a keen attention to detail, are essential for conveying Rookwood's brand essence across all content.


  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with the Marketing Director, Creative Director, and Photography Lead to develop and execute a unified brand expression. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effectively working within a cross-functional team.


  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in video editing, photo editing, and content creation. Proficiency in social media management tools, Google Analytics, Shopify, and basic SEO knowledge are essential.


  • Self-Starter Attitude: A passionate, inspired, and proactive approach to work. You should be a self-starter who is capable of working independently, yet thrives in a collaborative environment.


  • Organizational Excellence: Excellent organizational skills, time management, and the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment. An eye for consistency and strong visual skills are essential to maintain brand standards across all digital content.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • College degree or active enrollment in a creative field (e.g., marketing, journalism, graphic design) with experience in social media and content creation.


  • Proficiency with social media platforms and management tools; experience with Google Analytics and Shopify preferred.


  • Understanding of Mac computer systems, Google Suite, and Adobe Creative Cloud (including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro).
