Video Editor

Straight Arrow News is looking for a video editor to help bolster our evening digital news output. Our reporters and producers need a video specialist who can create elegant, crisp news video elements for our website and social media channels.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assemble and deliver VO and SOT elements for news packages
• Edit vertical video segments for social media channels
• Re-purpose 16x9 video timelines into vertical format
• Search and acquire video/images/sound for use in video
• Provide trims and fixes to recordings in studio when necessary
• Select and provide “featured images” for social media platforms and website

Qualifications

• Proficient editing video in Adobe Premiere timelines with multiple video/audio/graphics layers
• Good organizational skills with regards to project & media management
• Strong computer skills, ability to navigate Windows and Mac interfaces
• Understanding of visual composition/framing
• Knowing which images qualify as strong, purposeful, accurate, intentional, and fair.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in precision for all aspects of the job
• Self-starter, proactive in problem solving
• Understanding of motion graphics over video
• News background preferred, via school or previous employment
• Eagerness to work in a fast-paced newsroom environment with a patient and calm demeanor
