Job Summary: As a Surgical Technologist, your primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient and safe progress of surgical procedures. You will perform specific tasks in the operating room, assist with the maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment, and maintain positive relationships with patients and medical staff.


Schedule:

3x12 - Wednesday to Friday


Job Responsibilities:

  • Review daily assignments and surgical preference lists to prepare for procedures.
  • Obtain necessary supplies and ensure the readiness of surgical tables.
  • Assist in obtaining special instruments and sutures for each case.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in handling specialized equipment and supplies.
  • Perform tasks during surgical procedures in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Assist surgeons with various tasks under their supervision.
  • Circulate during operations under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with post-operative care, including site cleansing and dressing application.
  • Ensure patient comfort and dignity throughout the surgical process.
  • Practice proper body mechanics and assist with patient transfers.
  • Disassemble and properly handle surgical instruments for cleaning and sterilization.
  • Serve as a patient advocate, addressing their physical and emotional needs with care and compassion.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and uphold ethical standards.


Education and Certification Requirements:

Required Education:

  • Completion of a CAAHEP accredited program in Surgical Technology -OR-
  • Completion of military training in Surgical Technology as documented on Form DD214 (discharge papers) and Form DD2586 (Verification of Military Education and Training).

Required Certifications & Licensure:

  • BLS (American Heart Association)

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA OR Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) through NCCT

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with medical personnel and patients.
  • Sound judgment and knowledge of scientific principles.
  • Competency in surgical procedures and equipment usage.
  • Ability to remain composed in stressful situations.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development.
