Hassett & George, a 30-person law firm, is looking for a Commercial Real Estate/Corporate Paralegal to join our transactional team. This is a full-time position and can be based in either our Simsbury or Glastonbury office.

This person will assist our transactional lawyers with all aspects of business transactions including the buying and selling of businesses, the buying and selling of commercial properties, and commercial refinances. At least three years of transactional experience is required. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a few years’ experience to take their career to the next level, as we are dedicated to training and developing our professionals.


Primary responsibility is to manage commercial transactions from beginning to end including: 

  • Prepare, monitor and track closing checklists and closing documents.
  • Conduct due diligence.
  • Title and survey work.
  • Lease abstracting.
  • Lien searches.
  • Prepare settlement statements.
  • Prepare purchase and sale agreements.
  • Prepare loan documents.


In addition to transactional work, this person will be responsible for corporate work including:

  • Draft and file formation documents for corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships and non-profit entities.
  • Draft and file Annual Reports, Articles of Amendment, etc.
  • Maintain corporate governance documents such as minute books and closing binders.
  • Prepare UCC filings.


Other responsibilities include:

  • Prepare mechanics’ liens.
  • Prepare Franchise Disclosure Documents and Annual Franchise Disclosure updates.
  • Assist lawyers with trademark filings; track filing application for renewals.


Skills/Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of commercial transaction experience.
  • Team player; our firm thrives on collaboration.
  • Excellent administrative and word processing skills, including the ability to redline documents, compare documents, and edit long, complex documents.
  • Detail-oriented. 
  • Strong communication skills. Comfortable with heavy client contact.
  • Strong organizational skills including scheduling meetings and closings.
  • Dedication to providing superior client service; ability to work with all the players involved to get the deal done.
