Supported by: Program Manager, Team Leader

Oversees: Winchester Rescue Mission (WRM) Daily Operations

Winchester Rescue Mission (WRM) is dedicated to providing healing, help, and hope to individuals experiencing homelessness and crises. Our mission is to restore dignity and foster relationships that support individuals in their journey toward self-sufficiency. We achieve this through comprehensive programs that address the root causes of homelessness and poverty.

Position Summary:

As a Program Team Member, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of WRM, directly engaging with residents and guests to ensure a safe, welcoming, and positive environment. You will serve as a frontline support person, helping residents with problem-solving, monitoring safety, and overseeing the cleanliness and order of the facility. This role requires excellent communication skills, a passion for helping others, and the ability to maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere for all individuals at WRM.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Operations and Resident Support:

  • Uphold WRM’s Code of Ethics and promote the mission and values of the organization.
  • Participate in all scheduled staff meetings and required training sessions.
  • Foster a positive culture within WRM by modeling respectful and uplifting behavior towards residents, guests, staff, and volunteers.
  • Engage directly with residents to support their positive involvement in WRM programs, providing guidance and solutions to daily concerns.
  • Conduct rounds every two hours, monitoring building security and ensuring safety through regular checks of doors, cameras, and resident compliance.

Safety and Facility Oversight:

  • Monitor the entry and exit of residents, guests, and volunteers, ensuring proper clock-in/out procedures and conducting security checks of personal belongings upon entry.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and order of common areas by guiding resident chore activities, addressing messes as needed, and maintaining a tidy work environment at the front desk.
  • Manage the WRM phone by fielding calls and directing messages to appropriate staff members in line with established Welcome Desk Guidelines.

Program and Administrative Support:

  • Conduct resident meetings as directed by the Program Director or Manager, facilitating clear communication and problem resolution.
  • Complete nightly monitor reports at the end of each shift, providing a comprehensive summary to the Program Director and Program Manager.
  • Support emergency response and crisis management as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for serving individuals experiencing homelessness and crises.
  • Strong alignment with Winchester Rescue Mission's faith-driven values of faith, hospitality, flexibility, excellence, and a culture of honor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to be trained in Mental Health First Aid, Trauma-Informed Care, and other beneficial certifications/trainings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility in schedule, with availability for overnight and weekend shifts.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
  • Shifts include overnight and weekend hours.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and monitor resident and guest activity.
