Description of Job:

Seeking a research technician to join a Fermentation and Microbiology department and contribute to the efficient operation of research & development activities within this group. The research technician will bear responsibility for general maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and inventories on-site within the fermentation laboratory. The candidate will work alongside junior and senior research scientists to maintain an expanding research operation.

Principal Responsibilities:


Conduct all working strict compliance with applicable safety requirements, containment requirements, standard operating practices, and/or guidelines.

Perform routine laboratory maintenance duties including sanitization and sterilization of glassware, consumables, and labware.

Prepare liquid and solid media for downstream applications including small scale fermentations and routine microbiology workflows.

Responsible for digital inventory system, purchase and stocking of supplies including media, enzymes, chemicals, consumables, and all other lab materials in routine use.

Execute standard protocols and conduct basic experiments.

Document results of experiments and provide feedback.

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:


Familiarity with microbial cultivation of microbial strains using aseptic or sterile techniques.

Basic understanding of microbiology and fermentation.

Good communication, listening, and organization skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft and cloud-based applications.

Works well independently and as part of a dynamic team.

Willingness to foster a culture of diversity and inclusion.

Capability to adapt to changes and new environments.

Ability to lift25 lbs. and stand for 5+ hours of workday.

Education:


AS/BS in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry or related discipline with 6+ months of laboratory experience. Applicants with high school diploma or GED equivalent and lab experience will also be considered.
