POSITION SUMMARY

Clinical Education Specialist will collaborate with leadership and other educators across the system to develop, coordinate, and implement evidence-based education and Professional Development Programs to promote safe and effective customer/patient-centered care. Responsibilities will be primarily focused on one of the following areas: Cardiology/Critical Care, Neurologic/Orthopedic Care, Labor & Delivery/Mother-Baby/Pediatrics, Medical/Surgical/Oncology, Medical/Surgical/PCU, Emergency/Trauma Care, Surgical/Perioperative Care, and Residency Programs as assigned based on business needs.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Lead education initiatives for large-scale implementations and practice changes.
  2. Oversee Evidence-Based Practice updates for our nursing care delivery model as Subject Matter Experts.
  3. Manage multiple education projects including EHR enhancements and clinical projects.
  4. Serve as consultants for leaders regarding clinical practice, clinical products, and care delivery.
  5. Prepare reports as needed to reflect associate training.
  6. Develop, support, and advise education plans for areas outside of nursing.
  7. Ensure competencies reflect best practices and are compliant with organizational policy and procedures.
  8. Analyze and disseminate current medical and nursing literature for utilization in the expansion and improvement of patient care outcomes.
  9. Function as a Change Agent and Leader to support change.
  10. Demonstrate working knowledge of Lean and practices in Lean projects.
  11. Evaluate organizational effectiveness in education and integrate innovative, creative perspectives into the educator role.
  12. Perform learning needs assessments by using a variety of strategies and tools to facilitate practice and process changes in areas of expertise.

Qualifications - External

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: BSN required and Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, or other health-related field required.
  • Work Experience: Three (3) years of clinical experience in a specialty area.
  • Licensure: Current Florida License as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certification: Board certification in clinical specialty area or must obtain within 24 months of hire.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) based on specialty.
  • Use of MS Office and other systems and platforms related to role.
  • Communication – oral, auditory, and written skills; facilitate in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Problem Solve issues and challenges that may surface to achieve the desired outcome.
  • Time Management – prioritize and plan work and projects to meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, or other health-related field.
  • Work Experience: Five (5) years of clinical experience in a specialty area.
  • Licensure: N/A
  • Certification: Verified Board certification in a clinical specialty area.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: N/A

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (ADA, Travel, Environment, Noise)

  • Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
  • Medium work may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
  • May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or overhead.
  • May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
  • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined, on-site or remote.
