At Plastic Recycling Inc, we are looking for a Plant Manager to LEAD ~15 teammates in a way that builds trust, encourages teamwork, and is committed to the personal and professional development of those you serve. In addition, the BBT Plant Manager must drive continuous improvement through technical understanding in order to optimize all manufacturing activities at our State Avenue facility on the southeast side of Indianapolis. BBT operations are focused on generating high quality recycled materials from mixed commodity feed streams such as Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) or electrical Waste (eWaste) to prevent them from going into our landfills. Our comprehensive and growing portfolio allows us to meet the demands of today and tomorrow’s circular economy.
PLANT MANAGER DUTIES
The Plant Manager is responsible for providing LEADERSHIP and direction to all areas of plant operations. This position has overall responsibility for the growth and development of ~15 teammates and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). In addition, this individual will develop efficiency strategies to ensure the attainment of business production goals while managing costs. This individual will also promote a culture focused on safety, quality, production, and delivering desired outcomes while driving continuous improvement across the organization.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain a culture rooted in safety, transparency (expectations and accountability), and standardization
- Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
- Increase production and asset capacity and flexibility while managing costs and maintaining the highest quality standard
- Gain a deep technical understanding of equipment and process to drive continuous improvement
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
- Monitor operations and drive corrective action as necessary
- Coordinate with Executive Team, Sales/Purchasing, CSR, Logistics, HR, Accounting, and Maintenance representatives to develop necessary procedures, practices, reports, data tracking, communication flows, staffing levels, etc.
- Along with equipment maintenance, coordinate all facility maintenance needs and develop necessary data tracking to analyze equipment/facility upkeep and repair costs
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the plant, ensuring that all tasks and expectations are communicated clearly and performed safely, accurately, and timely through constant feedback
- Develop and maintain necessary Standard Operating Procedures for procedures in each process of shipping/receiving, production, quality control, housekeeping, and equipment maintenance
- Foster a team-oriented environment that challenges the status quo and constantly looks for process improvements
- Invest in the development of team members while identifying and enhancing key traits to grow staff in leadership ability
- Oversee all aspects of performance development including discipline, annual performance reviews, professional development, etc.
- Develop the plant budget, according to company objectives and development plan
- Control relative costs and present periodic reporting to senior management
- Ensure the availability of machine working hours according to the annual production forecast
- Lead your team utilizing Corrective Action Plans and root cause analysis to assess and improve failures or areas of weakness in all facets of operation including quality control, communication, accuracy, standardization, safety, etc.
- Through data analysis, help develop necessary Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and target values for production, quality, inventory on hand, downtime, labor rate, etc.
- Routinely meet with senior management to evaluate profitability, quality, and other KPIs or metrics; then develop goals for further improvement, risk mitigation, and avenues to success

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- BA or BS degree in mechanical engineering, industrial technology, business management or related technical field
- Proven past leadership experience in operations or production capacity
