The Role: Vice President of Alternative Investments (Hybrid Role)

The Vice President of Alternative Investments will be instrumental in supporting the investment committee of our organization and contribute to the day-to-day processes of manager research, due diligence and selection, while adhering to the highest levels of ethical standards.


In this hybrid role, you will provide essential assistance to the investment team across all aspects of investment manager selection. The ideal candidate will exhibit keen attention to detail, outstanding communication abilities, an enterprising mindset, and a strong willingness to acquire the necessary skills for this position.


Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and monitoring of alternative investment managers. This includes supporting all aspects of the investment due diligence and monitoring process, including documenting meetings with existing and prospective managers, obtaining and maintaining all necessary data, assisting in the quantitative and qualitative assessment of investments, and monitoring the progress of existing exposures.
  • Research: Assist in the evaluation, selection, and monitoring of alternative investments. Create and maintain reports to track prospective investments and areas of opportunity. This includes ongoing pipeline management; analysis of managers, companies, and investment themes; creating and maintaining market maps when applicable; and comparing the attractiveness of opportunities within and across private sub-categories.
  • Due Diligence: Support the manager due diligence process by liaising with managers to collect necessary information, performing targeted analyses, participating in due diligence meetings and reference calls, and recording and summarizing the takeaways from these activities.
  • Recommendation: Assist in producing materials supporting the investment recommendation process, including investment memos, presentations, and evaluation/scoring of investment criteria.
  • Monitoring: Create and maintain models to project investment exposures, outcomes, and liquidity. Analyze portfolio exposures, leveraging third-party software as needed.
  • Reporting: Assist in the preparation of reporting materials for key MFO stakeholders.
  • Process Improvements: Assist in driving quality and process improvements for data analysis, management, and integrity.
  • Strategic Projects: Assist in executing special project requests on an as needed basis.
  • Willingness to travel.


Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience in the Alternative Investment Management industry working primarily with institutional allocators and/or fund of funds (FOF).
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Management/Finance preferred.
  • Passionate about working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of alternative investment products, financial markets, and investment teams.
  • Hard-working, self-starter, dedicated, punctual and personable.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle and protect highly confidential financial and personal information reliably and with discretion.
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel).


Compensation & Benefits

  • The role offers a competitive salary, and the actual pay will be based on the qualifications and experience of each candidate.
