POSITION OVERVIEW


This position will report to the Maintenance Manager and will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical and mechanical systems and equipment. They work closely with engineers and other technicians to ensure efficient operation and functionality of various machinery and systems. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read blueprints and technical manuals. This position requires work performance that is consistent with the company mission and values producing a product that meets recognized standards and customer expectations by maintaining Quality and Safety procedures. This is a safety-sensitive position which has been defined as one where the employee's responsibilities impact the health and safety of themselves, coworkers and/or the public (in this case the end-user of our product). All production and production support positions fall into this category.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Maintenance Tech Lead is involved overseeing and coordinating maintenance activities, providing technical guidance and support to a team of technicians, and ensuring the efficient operation and upkeep of equipment and facilities. Here are some common responsibilities:


Supervision and Leadership:


  • Coordinate and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing guidance and technical expertise.
  • Conduct regular meetings, training sessions, to support the growth and development of the maintenance team.


Maintenance Planning and Execution:


  • Assist in developing and implement new preventive maintenance procedures with the Reliability and Process Improvement Specialist, ensuring regular inspections, servicing, and repairs of equipment to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks, coordinating with production schedules and other departments to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Oversee and participate in complex maintenance and repair activities, including troubleshooting, diagnosing equipment malfunctions, and performing advanced repairs or adjustments.


Equipment and Facility Management:


  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all equipment and facilities, ensuring proper operation, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and spare parts inventory.
  • Identify and recommend improvements for equipment reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.


Safety and Compliance:


  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Display an active role on the sight safety team.
  • Promote and enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by the maintenance team and provide guidance on safe work practices.


Vendor and Contractor Management:


  • Liaise with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance services, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion of tasks.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate service contracts to ensure high-quality services and cost-efficiency.


Documentation and Reporting:


  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, work orders, equipment manuals, and service contracts.
  • Support an active role on maintenance metrics, equipment downtime, expenditures, and performance indicators with the team.
  • Communicate maintenance status, issues, and recommendations to Maintenance/Production management.


Continuous Improvement:


  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in maintenance and equipment management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings in maintenance operations.
  • Recommend and implement measures to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and overall performance.


Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in electro-mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred. Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • 5-10 years proven experience as an Electro-Mechanical Technician or in a similar role.
  • 3-5 years in a lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, principles, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical diagrams.
  • Skilled in using various testing and diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, PLC programming tools).
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to working with electrical systems and machinery.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Requires prolonged walking, standing, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping, climbing, regular lifting and carrying to move up to 50 lbs., talking, hearing, reaching, feeling, grasping, and push/pulling.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions/temperatures.
  • Regular mental and visual attention much or all the time with manual coordination.
  • General office environment conditions.
  • Flexibility required to travel.
