Trading Systems Engineer - Leading Proprietary Trading Firm


Our client is a leading proprietary trading firm in Chicago and is seeking a skilled Trading Systems Engineer to join their Front-Office production support team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of optimizing and managing our production trading environment. You will be responsible for installing and overseeing production trading applications at both the desktop and server levels, as well as providing hands-on support for our trading activities.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate closely with Development, Trading, and Infrastructure teams to continuously enhance the trading system, troubleshoot issues, and fine-tune configurations.
  • Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
  • Master and support both in-house and third-party software applications integral to our production trading system.


Requirements & Qualifications:


  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, with a strong technical background.
  • Comfortable working with Linux (RedHat, Ubuntu, etc.), adept with automation tools, and confident using the command line.
  • Proficient in Python, Bash, database structures, and various scripting techniques.
  • Ability to rapidly grasp and apply new concepts and technologies.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of adhering to risk and compliance procedures.
  • A team player who can build strong relationships across multiple teams and offices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • On-call availability to work outside of core business hours, including weekends and holidays.
