Responsibilities

• Diagnose machine malfunctions and conduct repairs
• Properly plan for large maintenance projects by ensuring sufficient tools, equipment, material, and parts are on-hand when needed
• Manage inventory of spares to minimize machine downtime and expediting costs
• Build and dismantle complex machine assemblies
• Perform regular inspections of machines and equipment
• Identify vulnerabilities on equipment and establish preventive maintenance plans to mitigate those risks
• Schedule and complete preventive maintenance tasks at a required frequency
• Identify opportunities to improve preventive maintenance plans and reduce unscheduled downtime
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, manuals and specifications
• Keep documented information organized and up-to-date, such as maintenance records, work instructions, blueprints, spares inventory, and purchasing records.
• Operate metal working tools to make and repair parts; use brake and shear for metal fabrication; cutting torches and plasma cutter; weld parts and repair electrical wiring; fabricate guards and frames for production machines; prepare and paint equipment and building facilities as required
• Follow all safety rules and regulations and maintain training in Lock-out/Tag-out, Welding and Cutting Safety, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response.
• Keep a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Machinist apprenticeship or 5 to 7 years’ experience repairing US Baird and/or Waterbury-Farrel Transfer Presses
