Senior Property Underwriter

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Property Underwriter to join our team. As a Senior Property Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in assessing and managing risk for commercial property insurance policies. Your expertise in underwriting, coupled with your leadership skills, will be instrumental in shaping our underwriting strategies and mentoring a team of two underwriters.

Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate and analyze commercial property insurance applications, assessing risk factors, policy terms, and coverage limits.
  • Underwriting Guidelines: Apply established underwriting guidelines to determine eligibility, pricing, and terms for property insurance policies.
  • Portfolio Management: Manage an assigned portfolio of property risks, ensuring profitability and adherence to company standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with brokers, agents, and other stakeholders to negotiate terms, address inquiries, and provide exceptional service.
  • Leadership: Lead a team of two underwriters, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Strategy Development: Contribute to the development of underwriting strategies, pricing models, and risk management initiatives.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting property insurance.
  • Quality Control: Conduct audits and reviews to maintain underwriting quality and compliance.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3-8 years of experience in commercial property underwriting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in property risk assessment, policy analysis, and underwriting software.
  • Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with property insurance regulations and market dynamics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CPCU, AU, ARM) preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site at our Atlanta office.
