Overview

We are in search of a Procurement Specialist who has excellent communication skills to work with a number of our vendors and suppliers. If you are someone who has a strong attention to detail, we encourage you to apply. As the Procurement Specialist, you must have the ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks as well as have a knack for analyzing challenges and exploring possible solutions. The Procurement Specialist will serve as liaison between the company and external suppliers, reporting directly to purchasing managers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals, request quotes and negotiate purchase terms and conditions
• Prepare and issue purchase orders and agreements.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns.
• Inspect and evaluate the quality of purchased items and resolve shortcomings.
• Analyze industry and demand trends and support senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.
• Organize and own all sourcing projects to keep the current database up to date and add new suppliers as needed.
• Organize and own all school bids that Tasty Brands create product for (school, retail, finished goods, and packaging).
• Communicate with suppliers via email and phone, review and negotiate purchasing agreements, and research new suppliers to work with.
• Cost analysis using awarded bids to drill down competitors’ items for volume and cost analysis.
• Take over all pricing responsibilities from the Director of Strategic Sourcing.
• Keep the costing database up to date, create spreadsheets from our templates for pricing using all needed costs such as freight, drawdowns etc., and present pricing, whether new or updates to various departments.
• Create processes or improve current processes for cost and pricing.
• Handle special projects which involve pricing improvements, such as film, ingredients, and non-food components.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and skills

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in procurement management within the food and beverage industry is preferred.
• Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Must have expert experience in Excel (creating formulas, using lookups, and more).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and with business application software, purchasing and resource planning systems.
• Ability to plan ahead and evaluate progress.
• Negotiate favorable terms and conditions for the company.
• Strong mathematics skills and financial forecasting capabilities.
