Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and customer-oriented Desktop Technician to join our client's IT support team in Mountain View, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical support to end-users, ensuring smooth operation of computer systems, and maintaining the integrity of the company's IT infrastructure.

Your day-to-day activities will involve troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting with remote desktop support, and managing network connectivity. You will work closely with other IT team members to resolve complex technical problems and contribute to maintaining a secure and efficient computing environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, has excellent problem-solving skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide remote desktop assistance and telephone support to end-users
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with computers, software, and network connectivity
  • Deploy security updates and ensure all systems are backed up and secure
  • Train staff members on company computer programs, networks, and security standards
  • Install, set up, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop computers
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve complex technical problems
  • Upgrade hardware components such as memory, keyboards, and motherboards
  • Configure and manage user accounts, software accounts, and domains
  • Support remote employees using Citrix environments, VDI machines, and telephony systems
  • Distribute and patch software using UEM and HUB technologies
  • Maintain and update knowledge base and process documentation
  • Manage individual and team ticket queues, ensuring timely resolution
  • Serve as a Knowledge Domain Expert for specific areas of expertise

Required Experience/Skills

  • 3-5 years of Service Desk and Desktop Support experience for both PC and Mac
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for software, hardware, and connectivity issues
  • Experience with installation, upgrade, and maintenance of software, hardware, and peripherals
  • Familiarity with encryption and security tools
  • Proficiency in supporting Mac OS X & Windows 10/11
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with wired and Wi-Fi networking, Windows Active Directory
  • Knowledge of Exchange, AD, and software distribution systems
  • Strong mobile support experience (Android, iOS, etc.)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience working in a 'Walk Up Bar' type of corporate environment
  • Certifications such as ACMT, CCT, ITILv4, or Comp/TIA
  • Familiarity with video conferencing support (e.g., Zoom)
  • Working knowledge of collaboration tools like Slack, Box, Google Suite
  • Experience with ticketing systems such as Service Now

Education

Minimum of an Associate's Degree in computer technology or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
