Indiana University Northwest School of Business and Economics invites applications for a part-time lecturer in Information Technology who is available during the day to teach on campus to begin August 1, 2024.


Statement of Responsibilities

The part-time lecturer is a part-time academic position responsible for a 3-6 hour per semester teaching load in information technology at the undergraduate level.


Teaching

Indiana University Northwest is a student-centered campus. Teaching is the primary mission of the campus, supported by research and service. Teaching responsibilities may include face-to-face and online formats, evenings, and some Saturdays. Additional opportunities for summer teaching are also available. Teaching expectations include course and syllabus preparation, participation in assessment of student learning, working collaboratively with peers on curriculum improvement, and incorporation of high impact teaching strategies that actively engage students.


Professional Development and Scholarship

The School of Business and Economics expects that part-time lecturers take an active role in their ongoing professional development in order to maintain currency in their field. This can be accomplished through professional engagement activities that involve applications to practice. Activities may include conducting a consulting practice; publication of technical reports and practice-oriented articles; presentations at professional meetings or academic conferences; pursuing continuing education in order to maintain professional certifications or licenses; creating and delivering professional education programs; serving as a member of a board of directors; assuming a leadership role in a professional association or society; and/or participation in professional workshops or conferences.


Required Qualifications

  • An earned Masters degree in the relevant field from an accredited institution
  • Relevant professional experience
  • Experience in corporate training and/or teaching at the collegiate level


Preferred Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in the field or related area
  • Demonstration of and commitment to facilitating student learning by using multiple pedagogical techniques in face-to-face and online interactions;
  • Commitment to interacting in all ways with students that exemplify respect and accommodation to all styles of learners;
  • Ability to explain complex things in a simple, easy-to-understand manner;
  • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with diverse audiences;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with both internal and external audiences.
  • Computer literate, knowledge of technology applications in education
