Role Description

  • This is a full-time remote role for a Steel Estimator with Sales Experience at SSE Steel Fabrication. The Steel Estimator will be responsible for estimating the quantities and costs of materials, labor, and equipment required for structural steel fabrication projects, as well as being able to build and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers. The role requires reviewing and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, collaborating with project managers and engineers, and preparing accurate and detailed estimates, as well as identifying appropriate prospects, set appointments and make effective qualifying sales calls to maintain a pipeline of opportunities.


Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication
  • Experience in estimating quantities and costs for steel fabrication projects
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of AISC structural steel standards and processes
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in software applications such as Tekla and Bluebeam
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in the construction industry is preferred


Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection projects based on project plans, specifications, and client requirements
  • Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and material pricing analysis
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for bidding purposes
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiate pricing, and finalize bid proposals
  • Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, material costs, and industry trends relevant to structural steel construction
  • Assist in preparing project budgets and cost estimates for potential projects
