Ophthalmic Technician, Mineola (Nassau County) (Part-time)
For Premier Private Ophthalmology Office in Mineola, Long Island (11501), adjacent to Long Island Railroad, Mineola Station and NYU Winthrop University Hospital with affiliated practice in the NYC, East Village (close to Stuyvesant Town / Union Square/ less than 1 block to L train), Both offices are beautiful, newly renovated with a positive vibe and teaching environment.
Clinical Experience Bar None. Over one year minimum job commitment preferred. Gentile Retina has a track record of helping some of the most successful pre-med, pre-nursing, pre-optometry, pre-physician assistant students achieve their career goals. Premier Private Ophthalmology practice located on Long Island in Mineola, with additional office in East Village, NYC. We are looking for a one of a kind individual destined for success, someone who is going into healthcare for the right reasons and loves to help people. Days needed include Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri, with Fridays a priority. Typical shift would be 8:00/9:00AM to 4:00/6:00PM.
Job Responsibilities include
• Perform technical workups, patient histories and testing.
• Promptly and professionally assists the physician in patient care.
• Perform technical workups, patient histories and testing.
• Maintain and clean all equipment being used.
• Return phone calls to patients, pharmacies, and other medical practices in a timely manner.
• Scribe as needed (Prior medical scribing experience preferred).
• Assist in minor surgery/lasers.
• After training ability to accurately perform: refractions, tonometry, visual fields, topography, OCT, IOL Master/A-scans, B-Scans, fundus photos, wave scans and any other related testing.
• Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
• Keep supplies ready with inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (independent study courses, attend webinars & seminars, etc).
Preferred Skills:
• Great hospitality skills with patients
• Maintain a professional appearance (scrubs required)
• IT proficiency expected in a completely computerized office
• Knowledge of content creation – social media, podcast, and video production expertise a plus
• Having the ability to fill in and willing to learn other skills as ophthalmic technician is a plus.
