Position: Assistant Video Editor

Jack Gordon’s channel focuses on three pillars: Science, Technology, and Emotion. Our goal is to engage a young and curious audience aged 15-28. Our content is fast-paced, entertaining, and requires a deep understanding of the YouTube platform. With videos garnering millions of views, we are committed to consistently enhancing our creative output. We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Video Editor to join our small but growing team.
Job Description:
The Assistant Video Editor will collaborate closely with our Lead Editor to guide projects from ingestion to delivery. Key responsibilities include:
• Media Management: Organize and sync raw video and audio files, ensuring all footage is correctly aligned for editing. Collaborate with the production team to ensure safe media delivery.
• Footage Review: Assist in reviewing and selecting the best takes, shots, and angles for the final edit.
• Rough Cut Assembly: Construct a rough editing timeline with synced footage, following the direction and style guidelines provided by the Lead Editor.
• Creative Input: Provide suggestions on pacing, transitions, and overall video flow that align with the channel’s style and audience expectations based on what we have in the raw footage.
• Deliverables Management: Responsible for renderings and other tasks provided by the Lead Editor, maintaining a structured workflow throughout the editing process.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the editing and production teams to ensure timely completion of projects to the highest standard
Qualifications:
• Experience: Proven experience in video editing, specifically for YouTube or similar online content platforms.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and a solid understanding of various video codecs, formats, and transcoding processes.
• Understanding of YouTube: Deep understanding of YouTube's pacing, style, and content trends. A passion for online video content and a keen eye for audience engagement.
• Portfolio: A strong portfolio or examples of previous work showcasing your editing skills, creativity, and understanding of the YouTube space.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to ensure smooth project operations, with the ability to take direction while also contributing creative ideas.
• Detail-Oriented: A meticulous approach to project organization, capable of maintaining a balanced and structured environment in the editing room.
• Flexibility: Comfortable adapting to changing timelines and deliverables, with a proactive attitude towards new ideas and creative challenges.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: From $1,000 / per project
