Role Summary

We are seeking a UAS Flight Tester to join our engineering team in Houston, TX. In this role, you will work closely with the engineering team to test Paladin's hardware and software solutions, ensuring their performance, reliability, and user readiness. You will be responsible for understanding current engineering projects and thoroughly testing them from an operational standpoint, providing critical feedback that will enhance our technology. As part of a growing company, you’ll play a vital role in refining and evolving our products while contributing to our mission to redefine public safety.


Key Responsibilities

  • Flight Testing: Conduct thorough testing of Paladin’s UAV hardware and software to ensure functionality, reliability, and operational readiness.
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Work in synergy with the engineering team to understand ongoing projects and their technical requirements, providing detailed feedback and suggestions for improvements.
  • Product Validation: Perform detailed operational tests to validate engineering updates, new features, and fixes, ensuring products meet quality standards.
  • Product Demonstrations: Occasionally assist in remote product demonstrations to highlight the capabilities of Paladin's technology to clients and stakeholders.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain a sufficient inventory of equipment, ensuring it is always deployment-ready.
  • Adaptability: Tackle dynamic responsibilities within a startup environment, including occasional R&D and production testing.


Key Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in UAV flight testing, hardware/software testing, or a related field.
  • Certification: Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 License.
  • Documentation: Ability to thoroughly assess and document findings/results from flight testing.
  • Technical Acumen: Solid understanding of UAV systems, including hardware and software components.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on iterative testing and improvement.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for providing detailed test results and feedback to the engineering team.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced, multifaceted startup environment.
  • Mission Alignment: A deep commitment to Paladin's mission and a desire to make a meaningful impact.


Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with DJI Enterprise-level drones (e.g., Matrice 300, Matrice 350, Matrice 30T, Matrice 3TD).
  • Experience working with DJI docking stations or similar autonomous drone systems.
  • Prior experience in hardware/software integration testing.
