Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising hourly production employees in a manufacturing environment. This position will plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures, and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. This position will be required to ensure all safety, environmental, food safety, quality, and productivity objectives are met.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a high degree of technical knowledge and manufacturing aptitude to effectively troubleshoot production problems successfully. They will be able to delegate work and adjust plans as needed to ensure daily production goals are met. This individual should have strong leadership skill and a proven track record of building an engaged and productive team.

Position Responsibilities

· Requires a degree of production-manufacturing knowledge in the food industry.

· Plan and direct the daily production to attain optimum utilization of machinery, materials and labor, achieve optimum capacity, yields and overall cost reduction.

· Participates in equipment and system production designs. Controlling modifications of workflow processes to assure progressive improvement changes while keeping the risk associated with change within reasonable limits.

· Participates in strategic production planning for equipment improvement projects.

· Actively observes and monitors materials and labor, to achieve optimum capacity, yields and overall cost reduction.

· Collects information and presents findings to Plant Support Management on frequent basis.

· Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations regarding occupational health, food safety, and environmental compliance. Can also demonstrate safe work practices and ensures a safe work environment for the team.

·Facilitates consensus, resolves conflict, and overcomes resistance from teams and individuals. Builds collaborative relationships with peers across the organization to ensure understanding and speed in delivering results.

· Ensure daily production meets all standards and production schedules.

· Leads and motivates the team to improve quality, safety, sanitation and cost performance.

· Works with QC employees to ensure proper training, auditing, and (HAACP and GMPs).

· Coaches and mentors team members to maximize skills and talent; provides resources for team member development.

Position Qualifications

· One (5) year plant experience in bakery or food manufacturing, is preferred.

· 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment

· Knowledge of equipment capabilities and the ability to foresee potential problems & corrective action.

· Very high level of competency with enterprise systems

· Ability to effectively manage and develop team.

· Contribute to building and implementing the annual Production Plan.

· Support the annual departmental labor budget

· Determining root cause and developing corrective action for bakery manufacturing related customer complaints

· Computer skills, including e-mail and Microsoft Office are required. Previous experience with ERP and Timekeeping software is preferred.

· Strong organizational and planning skills are required.

· Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, is required. Ability to communicate with all levels across the organization will be required.
