Title: Mold Design Engineer

Location: Waukegan, IL

Hire Type: Direct Hire

Salary: $90K-110K/YR

Must have: Design experience in CAD & mechanical aptitude

Job Duties:

  • Design and develop molds
  • Collaborate with engineering to create products, molds/tools, and processes
  • Provide engineering support to the product design team, customers, and other departments, including automation, molding process, and quality control
  • Regularly assess progress and communicate with management and departments about any concerns or issues affecting mold delivery
  • Participate in corrective action plans to ensure molds/tools meet standards and expectations
  • Interface with CNC machining, designers, programmers, and other personnel to assist in routing, planning, work instructions, problem-solving, and expediting mold/tool components on assigned jobs
  • Consult with engineers, production personnel, programmers, and others to resolve product and equipment issues
  • Coordinate engineering changes from concept through production release
  • Attend all new tool samplings to review and document improvement items
  • Visit molding areas to assist in troubleshooting issues, making adjustments/repairs at injection molding machines during sampling and testing
  • Develop unique solutions to address product design and manufacturing challenges


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the plastics injection molding process
  • Experience in plastic injection mold tool design and manufacturing
  • CAD experience (NX preferred)
  • Demonstrated initiative and results-oriented mindset, with a willingness and ability to implement change
  • Previous experience as a toolmaker is a plus
  • Strong logical thinking and attention to detail
  • Rapid prototyping experience is an advantage
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, IQMS, and Outlook
