Title: Mold Design Engineer
Location: Waukegan, IL
Hire Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $90K-110K/YR
Must have: Design experience in CAD & mechanical aptitude
Job Duties:
- Design and develop molds
- Collaborate with engineering to create products, molds/tools, and processes
- Provide engineering support to the product design team, customers, and other departments, including automation, molding process, and quality control
- Regularly assess progress and communicate with management and departments about any concerns or issues affecting mold delivery
- Participate in corrective action plans to ensure molds/tools meet standards and expectations
- Interface with CNC machining, designers, programmers, and other personnel to assist in routing, planning, work instructions, problem-solving, and expediting mold/tool components on assigned jobs
- Consult with engineers, production personnel, programmers, and others to resolve product and equipment issues
- Coordinate engineering changes from concept through production release
- Attend all new tool samplings to review and document improvement items
- Visit molding areas to assist in troubleshooting issues, making adjustments/repairs at injection molding machines during sampling and testing
- Develop unique solutions to address product design and manufacturing challenges
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the plastics injection molding process
- Experience in plastic injection mold tool design and manufacturing
- CAD experience (NX preferred)
- Demonstrated initiative and results-oriented mindset, with a willingness and ability to implement change
- Previous experience as a toolmaker is a plus
- Strong logical thinking and attention to detail
- Rapid prototyping experience is an advantage
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, IQMS, and Outlook
