Preferred, not required:

  • Experience in automotives, manufacturing plant, or industrial background.
  • Feedstock canola oil - canola to biodiesel.
  • Glycerin, fatty acid testing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or STEM related field.
  • Knowledge of oils and fats or other agricultural products and processing.
  • Knowledge of petroleum industry and products.
  • Experience with product quality assurance methodologies and troubleshooting (root-cause analysis, statistical quality control, etc.).
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment including but not limited to, GC’s, ICP’s, titrators, distillation equipment, combustion analyzers, density/viscosity analyzers, cold property analyzers, wet chemistry apparatus.

Position Details:

  • Lab Testing (70%)
  • Perform all tests available in the laboratory and maintain the equipment and instruments used for those tests.
  • Perform laboratory testing of raw materials and products.
  • Monitor instrument performance in accordance with REG’s Statistical Quality Control (SQC) program.
  • Assist in the evaluation of product nonconformity.
  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments in support of continuous improvement and business development initiatives.
  • Promptly submit test results to the appropriate database, issuing reports if necessary.
  • Laboratory Upkeep (10%)
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and lab gases and place orders when necessary to ensure that supplies are always available.
  • Enter and receive Purchase Orders in JD Edwards for ordered supplies.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping (10%)
  • Maintain necessary safety records, including equipment inspections and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Adhere to existing safety standards and help improve laboratory safety practices whenever possible.
  • Document laboratory work and store records in approved locations.
  • Create and maintain SOPs and other instructional laboratory documents.
  • Support (10%)
  • Provide technical support to other REG departments as needed.
  • Provide additional technical support to process optimization and continuous improvement efforts within Manufacturing.
