Building Envelope Field Technician

NOVA Engineering is seeking a Roofing and Building Enclosure Technician for our Kennesaw, GA headquarters. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Primary duties will include:
- Performance testing of roofing, waterproofing, window and curtainwall systems and other building components on new construction and existing facilities. Testing is generally in accordance with various ASTM, AAMA, TAS and ANSI standards.
- Forensic evaluations and investigations on building enclosure and roof components suffering performance issues and suspected of failing.
- Quality assurance site inspections relative to building enclosure and roof components to verify conformance with construction documents, manufacturer, and industry standards.
- Review of construction documents including architectural drawings, shop drawings, submittals relative to the building enclosure.
- Write technical reports documenting testing and observations performed.
- Some in-state overnight travel may be required and occasional out of state overnight travel. The position will be predominately field located.
Essential Functions
For this position the employee will be providing quality control testing and inspection duties for commercial, retail, educational, low to high-rise and manufacturing type structures for the public and private sectors. Successful candidates will have some field experience or a strong desire to work onsite, and understanding of various construction types with an emphasis on roofing and building enclosure components, and knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn standards within the construction industry. Work is generally performed unsupervised (i.e. employee is in the field as the Company’s representative) but under the direction of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Education
- Technical knowledge of building construction and roofing components
- Adept at reading and understanding plans & specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, as report writing is part of the position.
- Technically competent in effectively communicating with others (both orally and written).
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Valid State Driver’s license with clean driving record
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with building enclosure systems such as wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs and waterproofing.
- Certified in operation of boom lifts or willingness to become certified.
- Registered Roof Observer (RRO) certification is preferred
