Technology Product Specialist

Position Overview
Wanco is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Product Technology Specialist to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the production, deployment, management, and quality assurance of cellular modems used across Wanco’s traffic and safety equipment. You will ensure our modems are properly configured, securely connected, and functioning optimally on our Verizon private network.
This role involves developing and implementing testing procedures, overseeing modem configurations, and managing the complete lifecycle of these essential devices. Also, as part of our IT team, you will have the chance to participate in various IT projects, infrastructure management, and other technical support areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, Configure, and QA communication devices for use in production.
- IOT Trackers and Cellular Modems: Manage the deployment, configuration, and network connectivity of cellular modems for optimal performance.
- Develop Quality Assurance Procedures: Create and implement testing protocols to ensure modem functionality and accuracy of configurations.
- Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of cellular modems, including maintenance, updates, and replacements as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Keep detailed records of modem configurations, testing procedures, and lifecycle activities to ensure compliance and consistency. Develop and review standard reports for product health and cost management.
- Collaborate on IT Projects: Support other IT-related projects, including infrastructure development, server maintenance, and providing help desk support when required.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Experience with cellular modem deployment, configuration, and quality assurance testing, with a strong understanding of private network environments (especially Verizon).
- IT Flexibility: Ability to contribute to other IT tasks, such as infrastructure projects, server management, and general IT support.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail in testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Adaptable and Versatile: Willingness to take on varied responsibilities and contribute in a fast-paced, small business environment.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience in modem administration, product technology, or a related technical role.
- Familiarity with networking standards and TCP/IP Protocol.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment (50-75lbs) safely.
- Comfortable working at heights and operating boom lifts or scissor lifts.

Reporting: This position reports to the IT Manager and does not have direct reports.
Salary Range: $26 - $31 per hour depending on the experience.
