The role:Our client is seeking an experienced Staff Cloud Operations Engineer to join our growing Technical Operations team. You’ll play a key role in shaping, scaling, and securing our AWS environments ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency across our cloud ecosystem.This role blends hands-on engineering with strategic leadership, partnering closely with product, software, and data engineering teams to deliver resilient infrastructure and operational excellence.What You’ll DoDesign, implement, and maintain reliable, performant, and cost-effective AWS infrastructure to support EMPIRE’s suite of online products.Automate environment provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Packer, and Ansible.Drive high availability and system stability; participate in an on-call rotation to ensure consistent uptime.Oversee deployment pipelines, CI/CD systems, and automation workflows.Enhance and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, and related platforms.Monitor and optimize cloud spend, implementing budget controls and resource guardrails.Enforce cloud security and compliance through IAM policy management, key rotation, and audit logging.Provide technical leadership on operational strategy and champion best practices across engineering teams.Collaborate with application and data engineers to design resilient, fault-tolerant architectures and automated recovery systems.Manage and optimize secondary cloud environments (e.g., Snowflake, Forge, Redis Cloud) for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.What You’ll Bring8+ years in Cloud Operations, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles with deep AWS expertise.Strong command of AWS operational services and architectural patterns.Proven experience in monitoring, observability, and incident management, including SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets.Proficiency with Datadog, PagerDuty, ELK Stack, or OpenTelemetry.Experience with data pipelines and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Airflow).Linux administration expertise and advanced automation skills (Terraform, shell scripting).Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and software lifecycle management.Hands-on experience with containerized environments (Kubernetes, ECS).Understanding of IP networking concepts.Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills.Nice to HaveExperience in digital media, streaming, or music technology environments.Knowledge of data lake architecture, batch/stream processing systems.Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance processes (SOC 2, ISO, etc.).PS: Our client is currently unable to offer work authorization sponsorship, either now or in the future.
