Job Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides essential nursing care under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and physicians. This role involves working closely with patients to monitor their health, administer medications, and support their overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Monitor and record patients’ vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Observe and report changes in patient conditions to RNs or physicians.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications and injections as prescribed, ensuring correct dosages and monitoring for side effects.
- Wound Care: Provide wound care, including cleaning, dressing, and documenting wound status.
- Assistance with Daily Activities: Help patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Medical Procedures: Assist with medical procedures and treatments as directed by physicians or RNs.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families on health conditions, medication management, and preventive care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medication logs.
- Coordination: Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to medical emergencies, providing first aid and CPR as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Valid LPN license in the state of practice.
- Education: Completion of an accredited LPN program.
- Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not always required.
