Job Description

The Principal at Riverbend Prep. is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and academic programs of the school. This position, reporting to the Riverbend Prep School Board, spans a 12-month term and is critical in ensuring a positive learning environment and academic excellence for all students. The Principal serves as the instructional leader, collaborating with teachers, support staff, and families to promote student achievement and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities will include strategic planning, financial management, overseeing academic programs, and ensuring compliance with educational regulations and standards. The Principal also plays a crucial role in staff recruitment, development, and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional leadership and support to teachers, ensuring the implementation of effective teaching strategies and curricular programs aligned with the school's mission and educational standards.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers and staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Observe and evaluate teachers, providing constructive feedback and guidance to enhance instructional practices and promote student learning.
  • Collaborate with the School Board to develop and implement school improvement plans, policies, and procedures that support student achievement and school operations.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity, promotes respect, and encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Collaborate with educators to ensure the delivery of a culturally responsive curriculum that integrates STEAM and social-emotional learning.
  • Oversee student discipline and behavioral management, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, families, and the community, promoting partnerships and involvement in the educational process.
  • Monitor and analyze student performance data, using data-driven decision-making to inform instructional practices and improve student outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal educational regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Manage school resources effectively, including budgeting, staffing, and facility operations.
  • Monitor and respond daily to emails, texts, and calls. (A dedicated phone will be provided)
  • Other duties as assigned.


Growth Plan

During your initial 6 months as the Principal, you will:

· Instructional Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive instructional plan that aligns with the school's mission and educational standards, promoting academic rigor and student engagement.

· Teacher Support: Establish a supportive and collaborative environment for teachers, providing professional development opportunities, coaching, and resources to enhance their instructional practices.

· School Culture: Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that celebrates diversity, promotes respect, and encourages student growth and achievement.

· Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents, families, and the community, promoting open communication and active involvement in the educational process.

· Compliance Oversight: Ensure that the school operates in compliance with regulatory bodies such as the Arizona Department of Education (ADE), the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools (ASBCS), and the Grant Management Enterprises (GME), among others. This includes being informed and adhering to the respective regulations and guidelines associated with each entity.

Within 12 months, you will have accomplished:

· Data-Driven Instruction: Implement a data-driven instructional approach, utilizing student performance data to inform instructional practices, identify areas for improvement, and monitor student progress.

· Professional Learning Communities: Establish professional learning communities for teachers, facilitating collaboration, sharing best practices, and promoting continuous learning and growth.

· Student Support Systems: Develop and implement comprehensive student support systems, including academic interventions, counseling services, and social-emotional learning programs, to address the diverse needs of students.

· School Improvement: Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive school improvement plan, focusing on enhancing academic achievement, improving operational efficiency, and promoting a positive learning environment.


Competencies

This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills. A deep understanding of educational policies, curriculum development, and financial management is essential. To excel in this role, you will also require the following, which includes but is not limited to:

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of administrative or leadership experience in an educational setting.

  • School Culture: Maintain a positive and inclusive school culture and learning environment, as evidenced by student and parent satisfaction surveys, and low rates of disciplinary incidents.
  • Teacher Development: Promote teacher effectiveness and professional growth, as demonstrated by positive teacher evaluations and feedback.
  • Community Engagement: Foster strong community engagement and partnerships, as reflected in active parent and community involvement in school events and initiatives.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all state and federal educational regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Resource Management: Effectively manage school resources, including budgets, staffing, and facilities, to support the school's mission and goals.


Benefits

The compensation for this role starts at $95,000 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
