Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Center Technician to join our team, specializing in the installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic cables and Fiber trunk systems within our data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in MPO fiber optic cable installation, testing, termination, and troubleshooting, along with a strong understanding of Fiber trunk systems.


Responsibilities

  • Install and test pre-terminated MPO fiber optic cables according to industry standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber optic cables and fiber trunk systems, including wet/dry cleaning MPO fiber, recognizing and correcting mis-ported cables in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all fiber optic cable and fiber trunk installations, configurations, and changes.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working in data center environments, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of data center expansion projects, including the installation of new fiber optic cables and fiber trunk systems.


Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data centers, with a focus on fiber optic cable installation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in fiber optic cable termination methods, including fusion splicing and mechanical connectors.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber trunk systems, including design principles, installation techniques, and configuration best practices.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing fiber optic cable installation, such as ANSI/TIA-568 and ANSI/TIA-569.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality in all work performed.
  • Previous experience working in a white glove data center environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications such as FOA CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) or equivalent are preferred.


Additional Notes

  • This role will be fully onsite in Memphis, TN. Travel expenses will be covered for non-local candidates.
