Job Summary: The Controller with Manufacturing Experience is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial activities within the manufacturing division of the company. This role includes managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, preparing financial reports, developing and implementing effective financial strategies, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a manufacturing environment, a deep understanding of cost accounting, and strong leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and reports.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted financial results and provide explanations and recommendations.
- Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.
- Cost Accounting:
- Implement and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Strategic Planning:
- Support strategic initiatives by providing financial insights and recommendations.
- Partner with manufacturing management to provide financial guidance and support in decision-making processes.
- Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor the accounting team.
- Evaluate the performance of the accounting staff and provide training and development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
