Packaging Supervisor- Night Shift

Position Summary

As the packaging supervisor, you will oversee the packaging and assembly operations to meet efficiency, quality, and safety standards. You will lead a team of packaging associates, manage packaging materials, and collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth production flow, ensuring that all packaging activities are carried out in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). This is essential in maintaining product safety, quality, and consistency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following

  • Supervise all aspects of the packaging process in the manufacturing facility.
  • Train new packaging team members and provide ongoing training to existing team members as needed.
  • Ensure that all packaging equipment is adequately maintained and that all safety protocols are being followed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the packaging area to identify and address any safety or quality issues.
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure product integrity and compliance with specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance personnel for repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the packaging area, including equipment and storage areas, according to company standards.
  • Collaborate with production planning, quality assurance, and warehouse teams to optimize production schedules and resolve any issues.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify process improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to packaging activities, such as production reports, inventory records, and incident reports.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among packaging team members.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and promote a safe working environment.
  • Develop and implement packaging processes that improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure production goals are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Education (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, or business-related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a packaging role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the nutraceutical or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role, with strong interpersonal and team management skills.
  • Familiarity with Food safety, GMP, FDA regulations, and other industry standards related to packaging operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, data-driven decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications and manufacturing software.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directs and oversees the department and supervisory staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintain a Food Safety Culture by regularly assessing the team’s performance and understanding of food safety practices.
  • Initiate decisions on corrective action that support resolution and improved policies and procedures.
  • Communicate to employees any opportunity to improve team performance to achieve greater levels of product safety and quality.
  • Comply with policies and procedures to prepare and pack the product under sanitary conditions that do not expose it to contamination.
  • Encourage and maintain a strong food safety culture by ensuring employees are knowledgeable of food safety policies and procedures and empowered to report events that could impact the food safety of the product.

QUALIFICATIONS: If you apply for this position, you must be eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for an employer-sponsored visa (work permit).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The candidate must possess mobility to work in a standard warehouse setting and with and around a variety of equipment, parts, and inventory. The candidate must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to various outdoor and indoor environments (i.e., general office, industrial complexes, food processing plants, semiconductor labs, clean rooms, etc., some of which can be hazardous). Temperature variances, high noise levels, and dusty environments may be encountered.
