ONT-DROP SPLICING TECHNICIAN

OVERVIEW

The ONT-Drop Splicing Technician will install Optical Network Terminal at residential and commercial locations, splicing the fiber optic subscriber drop, and performing all necessary testing.

JOB DUTIES

• Work with local office to receive assigned work orders for the day or, if possible, several days
• Pickup equipment and materials from the warehouse
• Complete assigned jobs: Installation of ONT, splicing of fiber drop, testing, labeling, complete site documentation
• Troubleshoot any issues and perform corrective action
• Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure timely project completion
• Maintain a professional appearance and practice quality customer service to best represent yourself and the company

REQUIRED AND DESIRED SKILLS

• High School diploma
• Clear driving record and criminal background
• Skilled in splicing of fiber optic cables with certification highly desired
• Proficiency with fiber fusion splicer, related tools, and meters (Such as optical power meter/OPM)
• Technically savvy with experience using internet apps, emails, trackers, and spreadsheets
• Ability to work in various outdoor conditions, able to climb and work from laddres, able to lift up to 50 lbs.

REQUIRED TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

• Reliable transportation able to carry tools, equipment, and ladders
• Basic hand tool kit to include screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, crimpers, cordless drill, etc.
• Fiber tools to include optical power meter and fiber fusion splicer capable of splicing ribbon fiber (If you have all other skills and tools but do not have a fusion splicer, please feel free to apply)
• PPE such as cones, reflective vest, steel toe boots, etc.
