We are working with one of the top dairy producers in the country With their countrywide footprint, they bring their best to customers and have plenty of opportunities for employees to grow in their own way They are looking for a Health and Safety Manager to oversee plant safety and risk programs, ensuring a safe and accident-free work environment. This person will plan and/or deliver programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, focused on education and prevention. This person will report to the Plant Manager.


Location: Delaware County, NY. Relocation assistance available



Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of safety, including OSHA, Illness and Injury Prevention Program, SDS, safety audits, and accident investigations.
  • Work with other departments on workers’ compensation, Risk Management Plan and Process Safety Management, Bio-Security, and Foreign Material Prevention.
  • Responsible for verifying new equipment/construction meets federal and state regulations. Perform JSA during commissioning phase.
  • Conduct and/or facilitate safety programs and OSHA required training and certifications, i.e. forklift, confined space, lockout/tagout, and CPR/First Aid training; conduct fire drills; perform new hire and annual safety training.
  • Support site crisis management program and support activities.
  • Reviews Incident Investigation Report to ensure completeness and that appropriate action is taken to prevent recurrence; Facilitates RCA’s for injuries and illnesses.
  • Support industrial injury/illness claim mitigation and management injury/illness claim life cycle in partnership with human resources to include temporary and return to work program.
  • Serves as or obtains safety expertise for the various plant functions in dealings with the OSHA; including updates to management on current laws and regulations.
  • Analyzes accident data to identify trends and accident types that can be prevented.
  • Promotes plant safety by working with all departments to analyze current situations and recommend safety improvements.



Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory role leading environmental or occupational health and safety (food or industrial manufacturing industry preferred)
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and Workers’ Compensation claim mitigation and management.
  • Hands on experience in successfully leading, coaching, motivating and developing a team within safety.
  • Must have solid understanding of Lockout/Tagout procedures and working with manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, customer service skills and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Must have experience analyzing risk and influencing people on what to look for on the floor.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification, or ability to obtain within 12-months of hire.
  • American Red Cross CPR/First-Aid certified, AMR Instructor certification preferred.
  • Available to work on all shifts (when needed) to resolve issues and/or evaluate employee environment.
