Job Title: Product Development Engineer (Automotive)


Position Overview: We are seeking a seasoned Product Development Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience in designing automotive products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering, coupled with a proven track record of successful product development within the automotive industry. Design for Manufacturing (DFM) expertise is essential for this role, as the candidate will be responsible for optimizing product designs for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Automotive Product Design: Lead the design and development of automotive products, including components, systems, and assemblies, from concept through production.
  2. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, designers, and manufacturing specialists, to drive product development initiatives and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  3. DFM Implementation: Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to optimize product designs for manufacturability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  4. Prototype Development: Oversee the prototyping process, conducting feasibility studies, creating prototypes, and performing testing and validation to verify design concepts and performance requirements.
  5. Supplier Coordination: Work closely with suppliers and vendors to source materials, components, and services, ensuring adherence to quality standards, specifications, and project timelines.
  6. Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including design specifications, drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing instructions, to support the production process and ensure regulatory compliance.
  7. Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop and implement testing protocols and quality control measures to ensure product reliability, safety, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for product optimization and cost reduction through design iterations, process improvements, and technological advancements.


Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
  2. Minimum of 4 years of experience in product development, with a focus on automotive products.
  3. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for 3D modeling and design.
  4. Strong understanding of automotive engineering principles, including mechanical systems, electrical systems, and vehicle integration.
  5. Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) methodologies and best practices.
  6. Knowledge of automotive industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements (e.g., ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP).
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  8. Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  9. Experience with project management methodologies and tools is a plus.
