We are currently looking for a Security Controls Engineer in Miami, FL. The Security Controls Engineer is responsible for all aspects of electronic security control systems and platforms; their end point components including the effective and efficient operation, maintenance, and repairs of all systems and components. Other duties include:


  • Perform routine electrical maintenance and repairs on various electronics and electronic systems – per manufacturer requirements and standards.
  • Install, program, test, and maintain all security systems (C-Cure and Wonderware)
  • Administer, program, and configure the VMS (Bosch) and all end points and appliances.
  • HID Card Readers and Electronic Door Locks management – Install, program, test, repair, etc. (PLC Programmable Logic Controllers)
  • Fiber optics maintenance – Install/Terminate, program, test/tone, repair, etc.
  • Data systems – Install/Terminate patch panels, cable certification/verification, perform troubleshooting and repairs, etc.
  • Interpret drawings, electrical schematics, and training manuals, as necessary.
  • Maintain records of all work, materials, and supplies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by providing timely, accurate reporting of events and solutions.
  • Communicates regularly and effectively with peers, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot issues and perform repair/ maintenance and reprogramming of end points (cameras, PLC controllers, Card Readers)


Primary Duties:


System Administration and Support: Understands the functional and technical operation of video management systems (VMS). Performs system and software configuration, system and user support, and user training. Manages user roles and system access settings. Monitors the VMS to ensure continuous and reliable operation. Conducts regular system inspections and audits to identify and proactively address potential issues. Responds promptly to user issues, system and equipment failures, and all irregular system behavior, while efficiently diagnosing and resolving issues as they occur. Understands, analyzes, and reports on the data included in the system. Implements and maintains security protocols to safeguard the VMS. Collaborates with the security team to ensure proper access controls and permissions for system users. Correctly and appropriately answers questions about features, functions, and operation of the video management system and infrastructure.

Camera and Network Configuration and Maintenance: Configures and manages various types of cameras integrated in the VMS. Conducts regular maintenance activities on cameras, including ensuring firmware updates and performance optimizations are performed as required. Maintain server and database software, applying security and maintenance updates, as necessary. Collaborate with other IT staff and vendor representatives to address network-related issues and ensure optimal system performance and efficient video data transmission and storage.


Required/Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, and Certifications


  • BS in applicable discipline (engineering, electronics, physical security, law enforcement preferred)
  • Experience with installing and troubleshooting low voltage equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with access controls serving CCTV and VMS, fire alarms, and intrusion systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with network communications
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills
  • Certifications in Enterprise Solutions (Bosch, C-Cure, Wonderware, HID, iStar (JCI)
  • Candidate must be available to support on-call/emergency events 24/7/365/
  • Must have a valid state’s driver's license (with no major infractions)
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Demonstrate proven experience managing, configuring, and administering electronic security control systems, specifically video surveillance systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of video management systems, camera technologies, and network protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
  • Familiarity with security best practices and protocols.
  • Relevant certifications (ex. CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent) are a plus.
