GM/President Electronic Concepts and Engineering (ECE)


A small business, with great engineering talent and product potential, needs a strong, technical, well-rounded leader.  For ECE, every week is a new engineering problem to solve in Aerospace, Armored Ground Vehicles, Automobiles, or Industrial Equipment. We specialize in designing ruggedized, embedded computers for controlling engines and actuators.  We’ve built these controllers for many of the world’s jet engines, for hypersonic missiles, and for fly-by-wire actuators, to name a few. The market is yours to identify, strategize, execute, and win. 


We currently have programs for Textron, Lockheed, Sikorsky, and other OEMs that need a leader with engineering and program management experience to run them. The president will also be required to build customer partnerships, seek new customers, and scale the business as new programs are won. This position will have full P&L responsibility to run the site and report into the Maverick CEO and Board of Directors.


ECE has a rich history since 1991 of providing engineering services, designing, and manufacturing innovative aircraft electronic systems for the A&D, automotive, and industrial markets.  As a respected global leader in these segments, the company has recently experienced growth fueled by innovations that have implements multiple control systems on these complex vehicles. 


We are looking for a leader that has a strong strategic mindset, likes taking on big challenges, and has experience in the any of the industries listed previously. Having an existing network within Aerospace, Automotive, the DoD, and other defense OEMs is a big plus.


Key Responsibilities:

·       Defining a realistic and executable strategy for the future of the business that looks out five years that translates into the annual operating plan

·       Maintaining strong existing customer relationships while expanding and growing the business profitably with new customers

·       Motivating, developing and growing a high-caliber team of engineers

·       As needed, expanding the company’s manufacturing capacity and ability to capture manufacturing revenue from products the company has developed

·       Successful candidate must have deep program management experience and ability to manage innovation (ECE is often developing products from a “clean-sheet” basis and taking such products through full scale development and qualification and in certain instances manufacturing of production units)

·       Work with the CEO and leadership team to establish a vision for what ECE is and can become, and a strategy for achieving that vision that maximizes shareholder value while ensuring that ECE remains an engineer-focused culture where its engineers love coming to work

·       Developing and driving the annual operating plan; focus on operating budget, forecasting, and short, medium and long-term plans and gains


Qualifications:

·       A bachelors degree in engineering. An advanced degree would be a plus.

·       Aerospace & defense industry program management and product development experience (air & ground)

·       Familiarity with electronics design and manufacturing

·       Experience growing technical teams in a get-stuff-done culture

·       Strong background in commercial, financial, contractual, and regulatory matters

·       Strong background in government regulated industries. Preferred knowledge of ISO/AS9100 quality environments and FAA or other government agency regulations and requirements. ITARS and other export experience a plus.

·       Substantial change-management experience and demonstrated success in leading process improvement and team building initiatives.

·       Demonstrated track record in building organizational buy in, developing commitment and support for company initiatives at multiple levels inside and outside the company.

·       Comfort with small, lean organizations - our candidate will assume leadership of a profitable, entrepreneurial / small business environment

·       Significant experience in an engineering development environment. While this function is most often someone with an engineering past, individuals with program and innovation management experience could also be a good fit.

·       Is a US Citizen and is eligible for a DoD Security clearance


Position required to be onsite at 1465 Timberwolf Drive, Holland, OH


Compensation is based on a competitive base salary with performance based bonus plan. Equity is also available.
