As a Universal Banker with Carver State Bank (Savannah, GA), your role is responsible for serving as a consultant to customers by conducting customer financial profiles, identifying customer needs, cross-selling, and up-selling opportunities. The position seeks to attract, expand, and retain customer relationships and is responsible for contributing to the financial growth of the banking center. To support customer and team needs, this position serves as both a Teller and Personal Banker.


The essential functions of this position will be expected, on a regular basis, to:

Relationship and Business Development: 

·      Open new accounts, including compiling and preparing new account paperwork and applications. 

·      Identify the unmet needs of current and potential customers and offer appropriate products and services. 

·      Promote and provide information to customers on new and enhanced products, services, promotions, contests, etc. 

·      Promote and cross-sell exciting products and services to current and potential customers to include joint calls with other departments. 

·      Participate in community events and develop business opportunities. 

 

Customer Service: 

·      Assist customer inquiries and requests regarding current accounts. 

·      Identify and inform customers of account status discrepancies and disputes and provide options to resolve. 

·      Receive and process loan payments, record and issue transaction receipt. 

·      Receive cash and checks for deposit, verify proper endorsement, confirm deposit slip accuracy, record and issue transaction receipt.

·      Process cash withdrawals from savings and checking accounts, verify signatures and account balances, examine all checks, bonds, money orders, and savings withdrawals to determine negotiability, record and issue transaction receipt. 

·      Answer and assist incoming callers with questions and requests; route callers appropriately. 

·      Receive incoming bank visitors and assist in directing them appropriately. 

·      Process basic IRA transactions. 

·      Follow-up on centralized pending file items. 

 

Branch Operations: 

·      Conduct all work in accordance with bank policies and procedures and regulatory standards to ensure safety and soundness. 

·      Balance and replenish cash in ATM. 

·      Weekly cash ordering. 

·      Receive, count, and balance working cash at beginning and end of each shift. 

·      Sort and distribute work from other offices, process mail and night depository transactions. 

·      Operate computer, telephone, copier, coin machine and other bank equipment. 

 

To thrive, you should have:

·      High school diploma or equivalent education. 

·      Two years of teller or cash handling or client service experience.

·      Six months of client relationship building or sales experience.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a desire to interact with clients and prospects.

·      Ability to master personal computer (PC) keyboard and software skills necessary for branch automation.

·      Ability to multi-task under time constraints.

·      Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.

·      Ability to travel to accommodate temporary staffing needs as required to include temporary assignment or locale changes.

·      Ability to work weekends and/or extended hours with occasional travel and overnights may be included.


Preferred Qualifications:

·      One year of client relationship building or sales experience.

·      Knowledge of advanced or complex branch transactions, risk management and loss prevention.

·      Experience with sourcing and prospecting for new clients and client relationship building

General understanding of bank operations, policies and procedures.
