Data Engineer

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Contract-to-Hire


We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a Fortune 50 Broadcast Media & Entertainment leader. This role involves designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines, integrating multiple datasets, and creating applications that drive strategic business decisions. You’ll collaborate in an agile environment where you can leverage your expertise in data engineering and cloud technologies to deliver impactful solutions in a fast-paced setting.


What You'll Do

  • Design and build robust data pipelines using Python and SQL, with a focus on optimizing data storage and transformation.
  • Apply data modeling, ETL/ELT principles, and data warehousing concepts to develop scalable data solutions.
  • Implement CI/CD practices to streamline data engineering workflows and ensure continuous delivery of data solutions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to establish and execute cloud data engineering design patterns and best practices.


Key Qualifications


  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or another quantitative field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in a data engineering or similar role, with direct experience in data modeling, ETL/ELT development, and data warehousing.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of data management fundamentals, data storage principles, and building data pipelines using Python and SQL.
  • Orchestration Engines: Expertise with Airflow or similar orchestration engines to manage and schedule workflows.
  • Cloud Engineering: Solid understanding of cloud-based data engineering patterns, architectures, and best use cases.
  • Coding & Documentation: Proficient in applying CI/CD principles to data engineering processes, along with strong Git skills for code management and documentation.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Highly analytical, results-driven, and comfortable working within cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify challenges and design analytical tools that support data-driven decision-making.
  • Use rapid prototyping to deliver creative solutions that leverage a broad toolset, including Python, Big Data, and Spark.
  • Educate stakeholders on architecture, capabilities, and best practices while developing solutions for future enhancements.
  • Analyze business requirements, assess source systems, and determine data mapping, transformation, and metadata needs for reporting.
