The Plant Manager oversees all plant operations including safety, quality, and production, as well as P&L (finance, purchasing, and sales). The position is responsible for hiring and training, as well as planning, assigning, and directing work, and resolving problems.
The Plant Manager is considered a “business owner” and member of the senior management team. The position is the key link to the customer, responding to issues regarding existing contracts as well as addressing customer needs outside of the contract work. This includes miscellaneous maintenance and repair work on caster and ladles, and machining replacement parts for various equipment throughout the facility. The Plant Manager is responsible for developing cost, sales price, and timeline for these types of projects.
This facility is located next to a flat rolled mill owned by SSAB. This SMS site employs about 20 people in a 15,000 square foot building.
