Position Overview:

• Under the supervision of the Clinical Director the Counselors are responsible for the programs and services provided to the program participants served by the Treatment Center.
• Counselors shall operate in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Treatment Center and as implemented by their supervisor(s).
• Counselors shall abide by all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• The duties of this position include curricula development and implementation, psychoeducational presentations, individual counseling, group counseling, case management activities and all related requirements for documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide group, individual and family counseling for clients
• Conduct thorough bio-psycho-social assessments with clients to evaluate overall functioning, health and substance use concerns
• Collaborate with clients to develop meaningful treatment plans with clear goals and objectives
• Maintain treatment related documentation such as treatment plans, evaluations, discharge summaries and program evaluation forms, within our electronic client record
• Complete all required documentation within established timeframes
• In collaboration with clients, develop aftercare plans to provide ongoing support of the client’s goals for recovery
• Attend and participate in all staff meetings
• Assist immediate supervisors with coverage related issues when necessary
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by their immediate supervisors

• Opiate Addiction
• Prescription Drugs

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1-year counseling experience in both group/individual counseling in either a residential and/or outpatient clinical setting
• Hold an active license in good standing as a substance abuse counselor in the State of Kansas
• Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Master Addiction Counselor (LMAC) or Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC) required
• Excellent interpersonal skills required as well as ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment
• Must be adaptable to change
• Must be able to organize and follow through on multiple tasks
• Knowledge of the disease of addiction and the various modes of treatment
