Must-Have Skills:

CAD/NX design experience, creating 2D drawings and prototyping with consumer device experience

Design optomechanical fixtures and/or equipment in Siemens NX, collaborating with XFN partners using Siemens Team Center, and principles to achieve

Create 2D prints using GD&T and kinematic mounting principles


Nice-to-have Skills:

Experience in manufacturing techniques such as: Machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.

Testing and analysis with tools such as: FEA, Simulation, Zemax, Ray Tracing, etc.


optomechanical Engineer will be working on exciting, augmented reality, head-mounted, consumer electronic devices. The primary function of an optomechanical engineer, specific to this role, is to understand and optimize the optical along with the mechanical design, process, and fastener(s) associated. Expectations of the candidates will include clear qualitative and quantitative design; as well as process feedback on image quality, mechanical performance, and mass manufacture considerations.


Our ideal candidate has a strong fundamental engineering background, prototyping skills, 3D CAD capability, and experience designing and manufacturing consumer technology products.


Job Responsibilities:

• Design optomechanical fixtures and/or equipment in Siemens NX, collaborating with XFN partners using Siemens Team Center, and principles to achieve

• Create 2D prints using GD&T and kinematic mounting principles

• Apply rigorous engineering and tolerance techniques to high-precision design requirements in areas such as Optics, Mechanics, and Motion Control.

• Review and generating 1D tolerance stacks in excel; review of 3D tolerance stacks

• Apply knowledge of manufacturing techniques (Machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)

• Apply knowledge of GD&T techniques and associated metrology approaches

• 2+ years’ experience working on ME designs in optics, mechanism, or mechatronics designs

• Testing and analysis with tools such as FEA, Simulation, Zemax, Ray Tracing, etc.

• Operating in a fast-paced consumer electronics product development and manufacturing environment

• Development of testing using mechanical and optics metrology devices such as CMM, OMM, interferometry


Skills:

• Model and generate drawings in Siemens NX and Siemens Team Center

• Ability to read and create GD&T drawings

• Ability to create and review kinematic mounting systems

• Experience in manufacturing techniques such as: Machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.

• Generating 1D tolerance stacks (Understanding 3D)

• Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.

• Team player and detail-oriented.

• Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas.

• Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.


Education/Experience:

• BS in optics/optomechanical field, BS in mechanical engineering, or equivalent
